Brad Arnold, frontman and founder of the rock band 3 Doors Down, has revealed that he’s been diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer. As a result of Arnold’s diagnosis, the band’s summer tour dates have been canceled.

Arnold shared in a video message posted to social media: “I’ve got some not-so-good news for you today. So I’d been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and had actually got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal [cell] carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung. And it’s stage four, and that’s not real good. But you know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything, so I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all. But it is gonna force us to cancel our tour this summer. And we’re sorry for that. And I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get. And I think it is time for me to maybe go listen to [3 Doors Down’s] ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit.”

Arnold co-formed 3 Doors Down as drummer and vocalist in Escatawpa, Mississippi in 1996 with guitarist Matt Roberts and bassist Todd Harrell. Rhythm guitarist Chris Henderson joined in 1998 with Greg Upchurch replacing Arnold on drums in 2005. Chet Roberts replaced Matt Roberts on lead guitar in 2012 with Justin Biltonen taking over bass duties in 2013.

3 Doors Down was scheduled to join Creed’s Summer of 99 Tour this year, kicking-off on July 9th. Mammoth, Daughtry, and Big Wreck are also on the bill.
